    Sean P. Hurley, M.D. is board certified in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology. He joined our practice after serving as a Gastroenterologist in the United States Air Force.

    After graduating with a pre-medical degree from the University of Notre Dame, he was awarded an Air Force Health Professions Scholarship for his medical training. Dr. Hurley obtained his medical degree from Georgetown University. He completed internship and residency in Internal Medicine in the Air Force at David Grant Medical Center/University of California – Davis. He then completed a fellowship in Gastroenterology at Wilford Hall Medical Center/University of Texas – San Antonio. His research on hepatitis C has resulted in several publications and an oral presentation at a national gastroenterology meeting.

    He then served as the Chief of the Department of Gastroenterology at Malcolm Grow Medical Center at Andrews Air Force Base. Dr. Hurley also directed the Crohn’s and Colitis Clinic at Malcolm Grow and established the first dedicated Air Force Remicade® infusion center for patients with Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis. In order to promote awareness of colorectal cancer screening, he organized annual community awareness activities.

    As a gastroenterologist, Dr. Hurley cares for people with all gastrointestinal and liver diseases. His special interests include treating people with inflammatory bowel disease, acid reflux (GERD), swallowing difficulties, irritable bowel syndrome, and diarrhea. He is also focused on screening for colorectal cancer.
