Craig M. Ellison, M.D. joined Digestive Disease Physicians in 2003 after completing his three year Gastroenterology fellowship at the Lahey Clinic, Tufts University Medical School, in Massachusetts. Prior to his Fellowship, he completed his three-year residency in Internal medicine at the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Harvard Medical School, in Boston. His Medical Degree is from the George Washington University School of Medicine in 1997.
Originally from San Diego, California, he was a nationally ranked junior tennis player and played four years of NCAA Division 1 Tennis on an Athletic Scholarship at the University of California at Santa Barbara. There he was Team Captain, and he majored in Economics and premedical studies.
Dr. Ellison was selected as a “Top Doctor” in the 2014 & 2015 Washingtonian Magazine. He has also been selected as a “Top Doctor” multiple times in the Northern Virginia Magazine, and Washington Consumer Checkbook, and has received the “Patient Choice Award” several times.
He is active in all aspects of GI including colon cancer screening and polyp detection, as well as GERD and reflux management. He also treats a wide variety of liver, gallbladder and pancreatic diseases.
Dr. Ellison lives in Northern Virginia with his wife, also a physician, and their three children. He enjoys golf, tennis, traveling, trying new restaurants and staying active with his family.
