    Dr. Ahmed A. Maher was born and raised in Alexandria, Egypt. He earned his Medical Degree from the University of Alexandria in 2013. He then moved to Boston, MA in 2014 for his postdoctoral research fellowship at Massachusetts General Hospital. His Internal Medicine residency and Gastroenterology/Hepatology fellowship were both completed at Lahey Hospital – Beth Israel Lahey Health. Afterwards, he completed his Advanced Therapeutic Endoscopy fellowship at University of Massachusetts.

    Dr. Maher moved to Northern Virginia in 2022 to join Digestive Disease Physicians. He is excited to help patients with a wide range of Gastrointestinal and Liver disorders. Furthermore, he aims to develop the endoscopic ultrasound program at DDP to help patients with the diagnosis and management of pancreatic and biliary disorders such as pancreatic cysts, pancreatic solid neoplasms, and benign and malignant biliary obstruction. He also has specialized training in ERCP, Endoscopic suturing, Barrett's ablation as well as Endoscopic Mucosal Resection of early neoplasms. He is excited to be part of the Medical Society of Northern Virginia and is proud to work with such a fantastic team of practitioners.
